Alison ViskovicFPSNZ
I was given a Baby Brownie when I was ten, then learned darkroom skills in a high school camera club, using my father’s rangefinder camera. In 1976 I bought my first SLR camera, set up a home darkroom (only BW) and joined Lower Hutt Photographic Society. I Iearned a lot from doing club competition set subjects and from books of major photographers’ works. In 1977 I started entering salons such as Whanganui, Dunedin and Natex, and gained APSNZ in 1985. I also joined PhotoForum in the 1980s, then in the 1990s was part of Wide Angle Group with Eunice and Arthur Mowles. I dropped out of clubs for a while, then in 2006 I got my first digital SLR and an Epson printer to use with my Mac computer and Photoshop. I joined KCPS in 2012 and gained my FPSNZ in 2014 (on the third attempt!). I particularly enjoy travel photography, making semi-formal environmental portraits, and experimenting with manipulated images such as illusions, kaleidoscopes and triptychs. |

My photographic passion started in high school where art and photography were introduced to me. I loved to photograph my school mates and cover school activities, sports days and events. That connection with people led me to a 35 year career as professional photographer, covering wedding, portrait, commercial and still life photography. My work has been published in books, magazines and journals world-wide. I am a life member of the Adelaide Camera Club, joining in 1975. I’ve been judging local, national and international exhibitions since 1990’s and I actively exhibit my prints and digital images at club up to international levels. I attained my GMAPS honours (Grand Master of the APS) in 2023 and my FIAP honours (Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique) EFIAP/G in 2022. |
