Liz Hardley - FPSNZ, EFIAP/d/2, GMAPS, EPSA, LRPS

Liz began photography as a hobby in the 1980s in England and especially enjoyed the process of printing in the darkroom.  She later moved to Wales, where she joined the Hawarden Camera Club, and gained a City and Guilds qualification in photography. In 1993 she became a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society.
Emigrating to New Zealand in 1995 photography went on the back burner, but being gifted a digital camera in 2005 re-ignited her passion, and in 2006 she joined the Auckland Photographic Society, where she is currently a long-standing Committee member. In 2010 she gained her Fellowship of the Photographic Society of New Zealand. She has been successful at national and international level, achieving distinctions and winning awards. Liz enjoys most genres of photography particularly creative photography and photojournalism and is a big advocate of triptychs. She also judges at club, national and international level, and enjoyed judging this salon in 2018.

As a Nelson based photographer, I’ve been proudly involved with the Nelson Camera Club since 2006 and gained my LPSNZ in 2011. Over the years I’ve taken part in many photographic competitions and have been honoured with awards across local, national and international stages. I have also been closely connected with the Nelson Triptych Salon since it first began, following with great interest the way creative styles and trends have evolved.
Annette Johnston, FPSNZ

The photographic triptych has fascinated me almost since I first picked up a camera fourteen years ago. I was captivated by the way three images could work together to tell a deeper story, express a more nuanced idea, or convey an emotion that no single image could fully contain.
Over time, that fascination shaped the way I approach photography itself. While I continue to value the strength of an individual photograph, I am increasingly drawn to creating bodies of work in which images relate to and strengthen one another. For me, photography is often at its most compelling when images are allowed to converse across a page or a gallery wall, inviting the viewer into a richer and more layered experience.
I am currently serving as President of the Photographic Society of New Zealand and am a Fellow of the Society. Over the years I have explored nearly every genre of photography, but more recently my focus has turned to wildlife photography, as my husband and I have been fortunate to pursue our shared passion for travel.
As the winner of the 2018 Nelson Triptych Salon, I am delighted to have been invited to serve as one of the judges for the 2026 Salon.
