| Southern Regional 2010 51st Southern Regional Rego Form.pdf (21 Kb) Programme planning for the Southern Regional at New Brighton, Christchurch on October 8th – 10th, 2010, is well under way. Welcome! You will be treated to a great evening of viewing on Friday with images from Andrew Goodall, Nature’s Image Photography, from Grant Sheehan, Phantom House Publishing, and from members of the local club. On Saturday, we have a full day trip to Akaroa, the nearby French settlement. We have booked the Black Cat catamaran for a trip round the harbour to see the Hector’s dolphins, penguins and other seabirds, for a special reduced price, but only for 50, so book early (This will be additional to the general registration price). For the rest we have a special secret stunning destination, which has to be seen to be believed, as well as time to look around Akaroa itself. We will have some models on site, with a French theme We return in time for a quick change, a social hour and then Dine and Dance in the Pier View restaurant, with the presentations of awards, and viewing of the salon. Sunday morning, come down to the beach for some sunrise shots (sun rises at 6.49 a.m) and breakfast at the local Connect Café, before our guest speakers, Andrew and Grant give their presentations, and some time will be available to pop over to the beach to see our Sand Dancer presenting a special Sand Art picture for our convention. Nature photography should be about Nature, not about technology. The photos in the gallery and on the website are the most faithful representation of the image captured on the day, with no alterations or manipulations. Rainforest photography is one of his specialities, which we look forward to hearing about
GRANT SHEEHAN Grant Sheehan is an award winning Wellington-based photographer and publisher. His photographs have featured in magazines and newspapers such as Condé Nast Traveller and the New York Times, and in over 20 books, including Landmarks-Historic Buildings of New Zealand; Cafés of the World, the internationally successful A Place to Stay – Hotels of the World series and Planet Penguin. He has twice won the New Zealand Travel Photographer of the Year Award (2002 and 2008), with images from international assignments. His latest book is ‘New Zealand Landscapes from Northland to Antarctica’
AKAROA FIELD TRIP BUS 1 To go direct to Akaroa for boarding the Black Cat at 11 a.m. Cruise to view the rare native Hector’s dolphin, as well as penguins and other seabirds. Great photo opportunities. Packed lunch on board. After the boat trip there will be time to explore the township of Akaroa, including the lovely historic church of St Peters. Please note that the Cat trip will be at a special discounted extra cost. (normally $75)
